What I really really want to gift & get on Mother’s Day

I wish to gift much more time to my mom

I am sure I am not the only one who has taken their moms for granted while growing up. But beauty of mother-child relationship is “Moms don’t mind being taken for granted.” Now that I am a mom, I love, pamper, take care of my baby and I will always be there for him, no matter what. Another realization, which has dawned upon me is “how precious is the time you spend with your little one.” So, every second that I spend with him is a gift that I will cherish forever. This feeling takes me back to my childhood, how me and my brother were/are center of my mom’s universe and amazing time spent with her.

Me & my mommy’s movie dates

I don’t know if I have done a lot of special things for my mom, she is a better judge of it but now when I look back there is something I really miss. I am sure my mom must be missing it too. It was our dates. Me and my mom used to go on movie dates. Just her and me, pick up a movie, watch it, grab a bite, shop a little and come back home. Nothing fancy just chill out time with her. The memories and moments spent with her are something so special that I can’t express in words. I am so glad I did that. Now, I am married and we are countries apart. Movie dates don’t happen but video chatting does. She is my mom and she has seen me growing, now she is seeing my son grow up. It seems life has taken a full circle. In all these years I don’t remember what gifts I gave her but I remember our picnics, our outings or just basking in sun on winter afternoon after school. If you are giving your time to someone you are giving a part of yourself to that person because time cannot be compensated. I am delighted that I shared my time with mom as much as I could and I still do. I wish if there is anything I could give her on Mother’s Day is – Spending a whole chilax day with her and going on a movie date.

My baby boy, give me gift of time

On the other hand, this blog is an idea to my son on this Mother’s Day. “My sweet little baby boy, If you ever want to gift me anything be it my birthday, anniversary, mother’s day or any other special day just gift me your time. I am not saying drop everything happening in your life and come running to mom. I am talking about “Mom let’s catch up for coffee” or “ Mom let’s go for a stroll in the evening or let’s walk the dog together tonight”. Just time and a hug is the best gift my baby boy, you can ever give me and I will ever want from you irrespective how old you grow.”
